Dear Parents,

This week is an exciting one for all of us at St. Emydius School—our annual Science Fair.  This yearly event gives the children an opportunity to showcase their creativity and challenge themselves intellectually.  I look forward to seeing you on Wednesday night from 5:30-8:00 p.m.  Thank you to Ms Ponce (8B), for organizing the fair.  All of us are very proud of the great things accomplished at St. Emydius School.

Have you returned the re-registration for your child/ren for school year 2010-2011?  If not, please do so as soon as possible.  Also, if you choose not to have your child attend next year, you need to fill out the required paperwork.  It has been brought to my attention that some people are concerned about next year’s enrollment.  Please be aware that we are still in the process of re-registering present students and accepting new enrollment.  The purpose of attaching the list of those students who have already re-registered to last week’s newsletter, which has been done in previous years, was to remind you to re-register your child/ren if you have not already done so. If you have any questions or concerns, please make an appointment to see me.  New student testing will take place on Wednesday, March 10 at 3:30 p.m.

Thank you to parents who have submitted their paperwork for Tuition Awards.  Once the school submits the papers, the total process is reviewed and evaluated by members of the foundation who are committed to Catholic education at all levels.  Many of our parents in St. Emydius School have children in more than two Catholic Schools and so need to take advantage of any financial help available.

Our 2nd graders and some older students will make their First Reconciliation on Thursday, March 11.  Please pray for them and their families as they prepare to take a further step into membership of the church.  For the rest of the students in grades 3-8, the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be received during Holy Week.

Thank you for your continued support of St. Emydius School.

Sincerely,

Miss Socorro Mendoza

ABC s OF STUDENT SUCCESS

X IS FOR EXPLORE

Children are naturally curious about many things.  Providing opportunities to explore their interests is a great way to help them learn.
-Encourage children to seek answers to their own questions.
-Buy books that capitalize on their interests and help them learn more. (Even better, visit the library)
-Support hobbies by providing supplies and complimenting their efforts.  Better yet, join in the fun!
-Visit museums and other places of interest.
