APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION
ADMISSIONS PROCESS - 2022-2023 School Year
1. Read all information carefully.
2. Fill out Application for Admissions form.
3. Fill our Financial Aid Application. (If applicable)
4. Return all necessary forms along with a copy of the latest report card and test scores for grades 1st - 8th and a progress report for kindergarten from your child’s current school.
5. Testing dates are by appointment only. Appointment will be made once the Application for Admissions is turned in.
6. There is an application/testing fee of $20. (non-refundable).
7. We will inform you within a two-week period of your child’s test results and status of admissions.
8. Once notified of acceptance, a registration fee of $200 will be required to hold your child’s spot.

The application will not be accepted without the required documents.
All incoming students are academically tested, their previous report cards will be reviewed, and after an interview with a teacher/ principal, students will be considered for admission as follows:
PRIORITY 1: Students whose families are registered and active parishioners of St. Emydius Parish and who regularly attend mass at St. Emydius Church as verified by the use of church envelopes. Current student siblings will also be considered.
PRIORITY 2: If room is available, Catholic students from outside the parish whose families commit to supporting the school.
PRIORITY 3: If room is available, other students who by their behavior and attitude demonstrate an acceptance of the St. Emydius Catholic School Philosophy will be admitted.
WAITING LIST – If your child meets all of the above requirements and there are no available seats in that particular grade, the student will be placed on a waiting list and you will be contacted if a seat becomes available.
ADMISSION TO TK/ KINDERGARTEN AND FIRST GRADE will be determined by priority 1-3 and two factors below.
The child must be 4 years of age by September 1st–TK
The child must be 5 years of age by September 1st–Kindergarten
The child must demonstrate developmental readiness and maturity as determined by data compiled as a result of testing, observation, and interview.
B. NON-DISCRIMINATION STATEMENT
St. Emydius Catholic School admits students of any Race, Color, Nationality and Ethnic Origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at this school. The school does not discriminate on the basis of Race, Color, National or Ethnic Origin in the administration of its education policies, admissions policies, scholarship programs or other school-administered programs.
C. PARENT AGREEMENT
For the 2022-2023 school year, every family is required to sign an agreement to support St. Emydius Catholic School spiritually, academically, and financially. Part of the financial agreement requires each family to complete 40 hours of service and either fundraise or prepay the $500 fundraising fee. There is a $10.00 charge for every hour that is not fulfilled. If parents are not able to complete the 40 hours of service they may make the $400 contribution to the school instead. Each family is asked to review the actual cost of tuition and encourage paying all or as much of it as you can assume. If it is not possible to pay for all or most of it, financial aid opportunities are available.
We reserve the right to deny services to any family that does not fulfill all required financial agreements in a timely manner.
NOTE: Through the mission of the Los Angeles Archdiocese, our school strives to serve children with varied learning needs so they may be successful in all aspects of school life. All educators in Archdiocesan schools follow "Directions for the Inclusion Process in Catholic Schools: Support Team Education Plan (STEP) Process ".
